Welcome to Heartland Community College and the excitement of the Hawks' athletic program.

The HCC Athletic Department strives for competitive programs based on a foundation of local student-athletics. HCC athletics promote the development of team and individual skills and most importantly, sportsmanship.

  • For their performance in the classroom, the following Hawks players were named 2013-14 Academic All-Americans: Jacob Hendren, Superior (Baseball), Jared Hendren, Superior (Baseball), Nolan Lodden, Exemplary (Baseball), and Ashli King, Exemplary (Softball)

    The following Hawks were named to the 2013-14 M-WAC Academic All-Conference team: Austen Bozarth (Men's Soccer), Taylor Carby (Women's Soccer), Brittany Mielke (Women's Soccer), Jacob Hendren (Baseball), Jared Hendren (Baseball), Tanner Hudson (Baseball), Nolan Lodden (Baseball), Corbin Woods (Baseball), Bridget Bankes (Softball), Kelsey Bessler (Softball), Emily Bush (Softball), Ashli King (Softball), Briley Spencer (Softball), and Breanna Wonderly (Softball).

    The following players made the Dean's List in the Fall 2013 semester: Austen Bozarth (Men's Soccer), Hannah Bresser (Women's Soccer), Eric Flight (Baseball), Chad Gendron (Baseball), Brennan Hammer (Baseball), Jacob Hendren (Baseball), Jared Hendren (Baseball), Tanner Hudson (Baseball), Charlie Jerger (Baseball), Nolan Lodden (Baseball), Keith Mahler (Baseball), Frank Waliczek (Baseball), Bridget Bankes (Softball), Kelsey Bessler (Softball), Emily Bush (Softball), Caitlyn DeLong (Softball), Taylor Gutzman (Softball), Ashli King (Softball), Kali Sanders (Softball), and Breanna Wonderly (Softball).

    The Spring 2014 Dean's List members are as follows: Austen Bozarth (Men's Soccer), Toni Anderson (Women's Soccer), Brittany Mielke (Women's Soccer), Matt Byars (Baseball), Pat Cashman (Baseball), Joe Ceja (Baseball), Drew Clark (Baseball), Chad Gendron (Baseball), Jacob Hendren (Baseball), Jared Hendron (Baseball), Tanner Hudson (Baseball), Jonathan Jones (Baseball), Nolan Lodden (Baseball), Pat Martin (Baseball), Frank Waliczek (Baseball), Bridget Bankes (Softball), Kelsey Bessler (Softball), Emily Bush (Softball), Morghyn Neal (Softball), Kali Sanders (Softball), Briley Spencer (Softball), Lindsay Williams (Softball), and Breanna Wonderly (Softball).

  • Softball standout Alexis Tarver was named the 2014 Region 24 Player of the Year, M-WAC Player of the Year, M-WAC Freshman of the Year, and was named a NJCAA Division-II First Team All-American. Also for softball, Breanna Wonderly was honored as the M-WAC Pitcher of the Year, and was voted along with Tarver and Ashli King onto the All-Region 24 team. All-Conference First Team selections for softball included: King, Canella Ontiveros, Tarver, and Wonderly. Katie Dickey and Morphyn Neal were All-Conference Second Team picks, while Kelsey Bessler and Lindsay Williams round out the softball award winners as All-Conference Honorable Mention picks.

    For baseball, Nolan Lodden was recognized as a Third Team All-American, and earned All-Region and M-WAC First Team All-Conference honors. Derek Bangert was honored as the 2014 M-WAC Co-Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-Region and M-WAC First Team All-Conference selection. Pat Cashman earned All-Region and M-WAC Second Team All-Conference recognitions. To round out the baseball honorees, Frank Waliczek was named M-WAC First Team All-Conference, and Jared Hendren was voted M-WAC Second Team All-Conference.

    Kevin Cheatham earned All-Region 24 and All-Conference First Team honors for men's soccer, while Jose Gabriel Puga was both All-Region 24 and All-Conference Honorable Mention. For women's soccer, Taylor Carby, Brianne Lacy, and Brittany Mielke were named All-Region 24 Honorable Mention.

    Heartland Athletics is proud of the success it has already experienced and looks forward to building on that success. The student-athletes at Heartland have upheld the values and expectations of the athletic department and will continue to do so into the future in order to build a proud tradition that starts in the classroom and extends to the playing field.
