HCC Foundation Raises Over $40,000, Announces Dream Vacation Raffle Winner

September 28, 2017

The Heartland Community College Foundation raised over $40,000 at its annual event, Evening of Dreams, on September 22 at DoubleTree by Hilton in Bloomington. More than 300 guests enjoyed the “Heartland Feud” theme featuring an interactive game show, live and silent auctions, food and entertainment by DJ4U. All proceeds benefit student scholarships and educational programs that support access and excellence at the College.

"The impact of tonight will be felt for years to come, because the students it will touch are going to be positive and valuable members of our community" explained Foundaiton Executive Director Chris Downing. "Tonight we introduced to our donors future nurses, teachers, IT professionals and business leaders. They will make our community a great place to live and work."

The winner of the Foundation’s Dream Vacation Raffle drawing was also announced at the event. The winning ticket was No. 27, purchased by Kristine Morris of Bloomington. Morris won an all-inclusive vacation for two to the Dominican Republic through Suzi Davis Travel. A total of 333 raffle tickets were sold, raising $8,325 for student scholarships.

The Foundation awarded $400,000 in scholarships this year, making the dream of higher education a reality for 260 students.
