Petrea awarded Community College Faculty grant

May 21, 2019

Heartland Community College professor of English Zach Petrea has been awarded a grant from the Illinois Community College Faculty Association (ICCFA).

Petrea was awarded the competitive Dr. Joseph T. Cipful Faculty Grant to support research or faculty workshops.

The grant will support the workshop “Universal Design in Action: Reducing Barriers to Learning and Improving Access to Knowledge.”

The workshop will bring faculty from four regional community colleges together in order to promote a better awareness of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in order to more effectively promote classroom student success.

The Executive Committee of the ICCFA awarded Petrea one of only three $2500 grants for 2019. In addition to awarding faculty research and faculty workshop grants, the ICCFA awards a number of student scholarships and supports an annual conference on excellence in teaching and learning.
